At 8:30 a.m. — The Commerce Department releases trade deficit numbers for February. Analysts expect international trade data to show a narrowing of the trade deficit in February, to $44.3 billion from $46.3 billion. A smaller deficit would add to growth prospects for the first quarter.

At 2 p.m. — The Treasury Department releases the federal budget for March.

At 2:45 p.m. — The Senate Banking Committee holds a hearing on the new derivatives regulatory framework.
