A Bowie High School student has been charged with setting a fire inside the school, Prince George’s Fire and EMS report.
Firefighters were called to the school Monday and found a fire in a second floor bathroom. Students were evacuated as smoke filled the hallway, officials said.
Investigators said they quickly determined the fire was arson, identified a 15-year-old suspect and arrested him.
The student, who is not being identified because he is a minor, has been charged with first- and second-degree arson and reckless endangerment.
The youth was released to the custody of his parents.
The fire caused an estimated $500 in loss.
