This was the week that Mitt Romney declared on the eve of the Michigan primary, “I’m not willing to light my hair on fire to try to get support.” The tittering that ensued may be the one truly bipartisan moment of 2012. Oh, wait, I take that back. There was a bipartisan “oh no!” chorus when Sen. Olympia Snowe, a Republican moderate from Maine, announced her retirement Wednesday. It seems she would rather do something better with her time than sit through another six-year term of legislative head-banging in the world’s most deliberative (and gridlocked) body.

I hope Snowe will use her newfound freedom to follow your example and take the p-Op quiz. As always, lighting your hair on fire is not necessary. So get crackin’.
