Nearly two months ago, I praised Sarah Palin for describing questions about President Obama’s citizenship and religion “distractions.” She also said the persistent questioning “gets annoying” and said Republicans should “just stick with what really matters.” I’ll never do that again. Yesterday, Palin joined Donald Trump’s disgusting birther madness

Here’s what she said in February to the Long Island Association.

And here’s what she said from her cocoon, er, Fox News yesterday.

Yeah, yeah, Palin said, “I think that he was born in Hawaii because there was the birth announcement put in the newspaper.. . .” Yet she then goes on to say, “[B]ut obviously if there’s something there that the president doesn't want people to see on that birth certificate, that he's going to great lengths to make sure that it isn’t shown, and that’s kind of perplexing for a lot of people.”

What’s perplexing to me is why so many people continue to refuse to accept the truth that President Obama was born in the United States and the Certification of Live Birth he released in 2008 IS his birth certificate. But, whatever. Trump and Palin have their reasons for perpetuating a lie. The controversy has been ratings gold for Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” And no doubt Palin is now tagging along to get back into the public’s consciousness after a relatively lengthy absence.
