President Obama’s reelection campaign has chosen “Forward” as its theme. But at Saturday’s formal kick-off event in Ohio, Michelle Obama donned an accessory that appeared to be a subtle nod to a key moment on the trail four years ago.
The brooch, as one sharp-eyed Twitter user noted, was the same one that the first lady wore when she delivered her address to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. During that speech, she was wearing a teal V-neck dress with the brooch pinned at the center.
But it also could have marked the latest effort by the Obama campaign to display its attention to detail — a quality that was evident four years ago at events such as the first joint Obama-Clinton rally in the tiny town of Unity, N.H., which just so happened to have split its votes evenly between the two candidates in the Granite State Democratic primary.
An Obama spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
