What’s better than one Paul on the campaign trail? Two Pauls, of course.

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) will be joined in Iowa on Monday by his son, Sen. Rand Paul, the Kentucky Republican who rode the 2010 tea party wave to victory in one of the cycle’s most hotly-contested Senate races.

The father-and-son duo will embark on what Paul’s campaign bills as “a daylong whistle-stop tour” on the eve of the first-in-the-nation caucuses.

Paul’s Iowa chairman, Drew Ivers, said in a statement that the campaign is hopeful that the Texas Republican “achieves a strong top-three finish” – downplaying expectations, as most recent polls have shown Paul in a dead heat with former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for caucus frontrunner.

The campaign swing comes after a weekend during which Paul plans to take a break from the trail to ring in the New Year in Texas.
