What a win for Washington. The Capitals did what most people thought they could not do: beat the Boston Bruins, defending Stanley Cup champions, in the first round of the NHL Playoffs.

Joel Ward buried the game-winner 2:57 into overtime to eliminate the Bruins. But is this upset enough to make the Caps season a success?

At the beginning of the year, the Capitals were considered Stanley Cup contenders. A win in the first round would have been expected. But the Caps had to fight just to get into the postseason. The way the season went, beating the Bruins turned out to be quite a surprise.
