This year’s Golden Globenominations were announced Thursday morning live from Los Angeles.

Like every year, the list of nominees contains some surprises. Washington Post celebritologist Jen Chaney reports,

The best motion picture — drama category contained one genuine surprise, a nomination for “The Ides of March.” It faces competition from five other films: “The Descendants,” another Clooney pic; “The Help”; Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo”; “Moneyball”; and the Steven Spielberg World War I epic, “Warhorse.”
