Loudoun only had one homicide, down from three in each of the previous two years, but the numbers that really drive crime rates, larcenies and burglaries, dropped by 10 and six percent respectively, and auto thefts dropped 18 percent. Sheriff Steve Simpson said in a press release Monday that gang crimes also were down 18 percent.
