The House of Delegates is convening for a weekend session as lawmakers begin their push toward adjournment in about two weeks.

The House is scheduled to vote on legislation to implement federal health care reform in Maryland.

One of the bill involves creating a framework for Maryland’s health exchange, which is a marketplace regulated by the state that would provide insurance to the uninsured.

The bill has been amended to require the General Assembly to pass legislation next year to implement recommendations made by the exchange’s board of trustees. Under the original bill, the board could have implemented exchange policies like types of health plans that would be offered and fees.
