Woman in Montgomery County injured after being struck by arrow

A woman was struck by an arrow and injured on private property in upper Montgomery County during what was described as a freak accident on Monday night.

The accident occurred on Moxley Road in the Damascus area as people were taking target practice outside a home, according to a county police spokesman.

Capt. Robert Bolesta said the woman was struck in the head by an arrow that apparently did not enter her skull. She was flown by helicopter to a hospital as a precaution, he said.

Bolesta said the woman was struck after an arrow had passed through a bale of hay and then ricocheted.
