Anne Arundel County police say a man riding a bicycle has died after being hit by a car.
Police say the accident happened Friday at about 7:30 p.m. in Severna Park. Police identified the bicyclist as 40-year-old Matthew Jeffrey Young and said he was homeless.
Police said Young was wearing dark clothing and that the roadway he was riding on does not have much light. Police said the bike he was riding had a makeshift headlight, but a flashing light on the back of the bike does not appear to have been on.
The driver of a 2000 Buick LeSabre that hit Young stayed at the scene. Police said it does not appear alcohol or speed contributed to the crash.
