Rescue workers were sent to the public pool in Capitol Hill late Monday afternoon after complaints about an irritant, authorities said.

The pool was checked and no hazardous materials were found, the D.C. fire and EMS department said. Seven adults and two children were evaluated, and one adult was taken to a hospital.

The indoor pool in the 600 block of North Carolina Avenue SE is adjacent to Eastern Market and one of the most popular recreation facilities in the District.
