Fatal crash shuts northbound BW Parkway

Update: The road is expected to be closed until 11 p.m.

Original post: One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday that forced authorities to shut down the northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Prince George’s County, U.S. Park Police officials said.

Police responded to the accident about 6:30 p.m. on the parkway, near the intersection with Good Luck Road, said Sgt. David Schlosser, a spokesman. A vehicle struck a tree; one person was ejected from the vehicle and was found dead at the scene, he said.

Authorities shut down northbound traffic at Route 410, and traffic delays were expected in the area.

No further details were immediately available.
