Two people died and two others were injured after a fishing boat capsized in the Chesapeake Bay off the coast of Calvert County Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 12:15 p.m. off of Breezy Point, just south of Chesapeake Beach and North Beach near buoy 79A, said Sgt. Art Windemuth, a spokesman for the Natural Resources Police. He said there were four people aboard the 23-foot boat.
All four were taken to Calvert Memorial Hospital, where two later died, Windemuth said. He said he did not know the conditions of the other two people.
Windemuth said he did not know yet what caused the boat to capsize and he could not release any information on those who were killed until family members had been notified.
