A man and woman were found dead Saturday in the man’s Bethesda apartment in what Montgomery County police said appeared to be a homicide and suicide.

Police said Martin Sean O’Toole, 38, and Hong Trang Tracy Vu, of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, who was believed to be between 35- and 38-years-old, were found in O’Toole’s Westbard Avenue apartment.

Police did not say why they thought it was a homicide and suicide or the sequence of events. They said the circumstances of the deaths remained under investigation late Saturday.

Police said a family member who had not been able to reach the man over the past two days went into the apartment in the 5400 block and found the man and woman. Rescue personnel were called around ll a.m. and the two were found dead in a bedroom, police said.

Both the man and the woman showed signs of body trauma, the police said. They said autopsies are to be conducted.

The address is southeast of downtown Bethesda, between River Road and Massachusetts Avenue.
