A taxicab collided with a Metro bus Wednesday night, injuring at least four people in Northeast Washington. The taxi may have been pursuing another vehicle that had struck it minutes before, D.C. police said.

According to premilinary reports, the cab struck the bus in the 3800 block of 12th Street NE shortly after 10:30 p.m. Authorities were evaluating the injuries of at least four Metro passengers, said Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesman.

Police were investigating a report that the crash occurred as the taxi driver was pursuing a hit-and-run vehicle after the taxi was struck in the 3000 block of 13th Street NW, a short time earlier, Carew said.

No further details could be immediately learned.
