A University of Maryland student was critically injured Monday night when he was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle near the campus, authorities said.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Rossborough Drive at Route 1, according to Mark Brady, spokesman for the Prince George’s County fire and rescue service. Route 1 was closed for about two hours because of the incident.
Quoting campus police, the online edition of The Diamondback, a campus newspaper, said the bicyclist was a 21-year-old student, who was taken to a hospital after being struck.
The campus lines both sides of Route 1 where the incident occurred.
Details of how the incident occurred were not immediately available.
