A tanker truck carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline overturned Monday night on a major traffic artery in Prince George’s County, authorities reported. One minor injury was reported.
The crash occurred on Route 3 in the Bowie area. Traffic on Route 3 in the area, just south of Route 450 was blocked after the 9:30 p.m. incident.
Of the 9,000 gallons of gas held in the tank, about 100 gallons had spilled. Mark Brady, a spokesman for the county fire department, said the spill apparently came from the tanker’s relief valve. It appeared that the tank itself remained intact, but authorities continued to investigate late Monday nightt.
The tanker was on its side in the median of Route 3.
The driver of the truck was apparently the only person injured.
