Teen struck, injured by train

A 17-year-old who was struck and injured by a CSX train Friday in Gaithersburg was listening to music and did not hear the train’s horn blow, authorities said.

The teenager, who was walking next to the tracks near Oakmont Avenue, was wearing earbuds and listening to music when he was struck around 8:30 a.m., authorities said.

Officer Dan Lane of the Gaithersburg police department said the teenager’s right arm was injured. Officials said the youth’s injuries are not life-threatening.
