Update: Police said a handgun was apparently shown in at least one of the robberies. The robbers may have approached victims in an auto, police said.

Three street robberies were carried out within about a half hour Sunday evening in prosperous sections of Northwest Washington.

There was no immediate indication of any injury.

The first of the robberies was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Warren Street NW in the North Cleveland Park area, near the foreign embassy compound on Reno Road, authorities said.

About five minutes later, a robbery was reported in the 5300 block of 39th Street NW, near Reno Road in the Friendship Heights section, about two miles northwest of the first incident.

The third robbery occurred about 6:40 p.m., in the 2500 block of Porter Street NW, in the Cleveland Park area.

Available descriptions were fragmentary. In the first and last incident, two robbers were reported. In the 39th Street incident, police were told of only one. In all cases, the robbers were said to be wearing dark clothing.
