Of the 814 players who have been nominated to play in the 2013 McDonald’s All American Games, more than 40 hail from the Washington D.C. region. These talented seniors will all hope to cap their high school careers with an appearance in the prestigious all-star game just as previous area stars Kevin Durant (Montrose Christian), Quinn Cook (DeMatha), and Jasmine Thomas (Oakton) did.

Cook left DeMatha for Oak Hill for his senior season, so the last local high school player to make the roster was O’Connell’s Kendall Marshall in 2010. The last time Maryland and D.C. sent a player to the game was in 2007 when future Georgetown teammates Austin Freeman (DeMatha) and Chris Wright (St. John’s) made the team.

The final rosters for the April 13 showcase at Chicago’s United Center will be announced on Feb. 14. Here’s the complete list of the local nominees. . . .
