Is Maryland closing in on another top basketball recruit?

DeMatha forward Jerami Grant, who burst onto the national landscape with a strong spring season with his club team, is expected to announce his college choice this week, possibly Tuesday, and is believed to have narrowed his choices to Maryland and Rutgers.

Grant visited Rutgers late last week. He is scheduled to attend the Maryland football game against Miami on Monday night.

As for the two schools Grant is considering, Jones said there are a lot of similarities.

At Maryland, “You have the chance to play right away and play in the ACC,” Jones said. “They’re going to win. How quick? Who knows. But they’re going to be successful. And you could say the same thing about Rutgers. A chance to play right away, a chance to play in the Big East.

“Stay close or go away?”

The last DeMatha player to go to Maryland on schoalrship? Travis Garrison.
