DeMatha linebacker Sam Lebbie committed to play for West Virginia on Saturday after taking an unofficial visit to Morgantown.

Lebbie, who is 6 feet 2 and 240 pounds, also considered scholarship offers from Syracuse, Rutgers and Illinois, according to Stags Coach Elijah Brooks.

“He’s a sideline to sideline, physical player,” Brooks said. “He has great range, great athleticism and a high motor.”

Lebbie is the third DeMatha player to make his college commitment, joining tight end-defensive ends Brent Wilkerson (Penn State) and Michael Moore (Virginia).

“It just felt right, the relationship I have with the players and coaches,” Lebbie said.
