B. hoops: Duane Simpkins leaving St. Albans

St. Albans basketball coach Duane Simpkins has resigned to become director of basketball operations for Towson University and its new coach, Pat Skerry.

Simpkins coached the past four seasons at St. Albans. Previously, he coached two seasons at Sidwell Friends. He was an All-Met point guard at DeMatha in 1991-92 and then went on to play at Maryland.

At Towson, Simpkins joins a coaching staff that includes former Paul VI Catholic assistant coach Kenny Johnson.
