Maryland’s top two incoming recruits for next season have been granted releases from their National Letters-of-Intent for next season.

New Jersey point guard Sterling Gibbs and Baltimore forward Nick Faust have said they will still consider the Terrapins and new coach Mark Turgeon. But requesting and receiving their releases is the first step toward both exploring their options after Maryland’s coaching change; without a release, neither could be contacted by other colleges.

Gary Charles, coach of the New York Panthers travel team, said that Gibbs is interested in Texas, Providence, Louisville, Seton Hall, Notre Dame and Dayton. It was too early to say which, if any, schools Gibbs will visit, Charles said.
