Former Maryland DT Zach Kerr transfers to N.C. Central

Defensive tackle Zach Kerr, a former All-Met at Quince Orchard High who made 21 tackles last season for Maryland, has transferred to North Carolina Central, according to Quince Orchard Coach Dave Mencarini.

Kerr, who is 6 feet 2 and 320 pounds, was an All-Met in 2007 after helping the Cougars go 14-0 and win the Maryland 4A championship. He needed a year at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy to meet the NCAA’s academic eligibility standards, then played two seasons at Maryland.

Kerr would not have been academically eligible to play for the Terrapins this season and will have to sit out this season for his new school as well.
