Offers piling up for Potomac (Md.) RB Ron Darby

Ask Ron Darby to name all of the schools who have offered him football scholarships. It will take the Potomac (Md.) junior running back and defensive back a few minutes to go through the list.

Darby’s other scholarship offers include Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Kent State, Connecticut, Miami, Alabama, California, Illinois, Michigan, Auburn, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Rutgers, Penn State, Arkansas and Tennessee.

“I try to pay attention to all of them,” Darby said, but he acknowledged that can be difficult to do, given the amount of mail he gets at home and at his Oxon Hill school.

Darby attended Maryland’s junior day last month and he plans to attend the Notre Dame spring game in April. Otherwise, he hopes to make some unofficial campus visits over the summer and then some official visits in the fall, though that can be challenging because Potomac plays most of its games on Saturday afternoons.

As of now, Darby does not have any favorites.

“I like every place,” Darby said.

Despite being the focus of every opponent’s defensive game plan, Darby rushed for 1,329 yards and scored 23 touchdowns last season. He said he received an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but chose to play in the UnderArmour All-American Game instead.
