It was a busy morning for Virginia assistant coach Anthony Poindexter. With the Cavaliers traveling north for Saturday’s game at Maryland, Poindexter made his trip early and went to Damascus and then Quince Orchard to offer scholarships to two of the Washington area’s top junior prospects.

Poindexter first traveled to Damascus, where he informed the Swarming Hornets that wide receiver-linebacker Zach Bradshaw had a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers, according to Damascus assistant coach Gregg Frazier.

It was the eighth scholarship offer for the versatile Bradshaw, who has been offered by Maryland, West Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and South Carolina.

Poindexter then headed to Darnestown, according to Quince Orchard Coach Dave Mencarini, where he told Mencarini that Virginia had a scholarship offer for Cougars hard-hitting linebacker Marcus Newby.

It was the fifth scholarship offer for Newby, who also holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Central Florida.
