• Queen Elizabeth marked 60 years on the throne Monday with a typical workday: Visits to a village nursery school and town hall in eastern England, plus a message thanking her subjects, reports the Telegraph. The anniversary kicks off the months-long Diamond Jubilee that will end with a massive four-day party in June with Paul McCartney, Elton John and a 1,000-ship flotilla down the Thames. Elizabeth was just 25 when her father died on Feb. 6, 1952 and is now the oldest reigning British monarch — but not the longest serving: She’ll pass Queen Victoria in September of 2015.
