• You know the 2012 race has begun when rock stars begin complaining about politicians using their songs. Tom Petty entered the fray this week, reports NBC, sending a cease-and-desist to Michele Bachmann, who played his “American Girl” at an Iowa rally. During the 2008 race, both John Mellencamp and Foo Fighters objected to John McCain playing their tunes; former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist recently settled a suit from David Byrne for using “Road to Nowhere” in an ad.

• Actress Michelle Yeoh was deported from Myanmar last week the same day she arrived, officials told the AP. The actress is filming a role as Nobel Prize-winning pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi and visited her last year. Officials told AP that Yeoh (best known for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”) was on the country’s blacklist but wouldn’t say why. Yeoh’s rep declined to comment to us.
