It’s not every day you see a billionaire octogenarian on an ice slide. That’s why we’re thankful for Bill Marriott, who kicked off the season at the grand opening of the Gaylord National’s Christmas on the Potomac ice display by taking a ride down the chute last Friday. The chairman of Marriott International, which took over the Gaylord hotel brand last month, had been in business meetings before he took his wife and a passel of grandkids to the annual extravaganza but gamely threw a parka over his suit and dress shoes to make the icy ride.
