Elizabeth Smart, who captured national attention when she was kidnapped as a 14-year-old in Salt Lake City, was married in Hawaii on Saturday in a private ceremony with only family and close friends in attendance, People magazine reports.

The Brigham Young University senior, 24, met Mathew Gilmour, 22, a year ago and got engaged a month ago.

The couple were planning a summer wedding but moved up the date two weeks ago.

“It’s everything you can imagine with planning a wedding. . . . Only, it’s compressed into a few days,” she told People.

Smart was abducted in 2002 from her room in the middle of the night by a self-proclaimed prophet and his female companion, who abused her and kept her captive for nine months. She is now an outspoken advocate for kidnapping victims who finally got her happily ever after.

“We were pregnant with a second baby, and at eight weeks I miscarried. That was a very emotional experience.”

Bethenny Frankel, former star of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” told “Today” host Savannah Guthrie on Monday. The socialite and entrepreneur’s current show, “Bethenny Ever After,” premiered its third season that evening.
