R&B singer Frank Ocean has opened up about his sexual orientation. On Tuesday night, Ocean, 24, posted a message via Tumblr explaining that his first love was in fact a man.
“4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost. . . . Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless. There was no escaping,” he wrote.
The news comes after speculation from reviewers triggered by his soon-to-be-released album, “Channel Orange.” Bloggers were already abuzz over Ocean’s use of “him” instead of “her” on his album’s love songs.
Russell Simmons and Ocean’s fellow Odd Future band mate, Tyler the Creator, took to Twitter in support of Ocean’s statement. He is set to perform at the 9:30 Club on July 23 after “Channel Orange’s” release on July 17.
Miami Dolphins player and serial tweeter Chad Ochocinco decided to make his marriage to reality TV star Evelyn Lozada the most public of affairs by live-tweeting the entire event.
Ochocinco, 34, married Lozada in a July 4 Miami celebration, giving a play-by-play before, during and after the ceremony.
While he detailed the festivities, the wedding was also being filmed for a new VH1 reality show, “Ev and Ocho,” People reports.
“Live tweeting from my wedding . . . should be a first I’m assuming,” he wrote early in their special day.
His coach on “Dancing With the Stars,” Cheryl Burke, was in attendance. The couple got engaged in 2010.
Spotted: Jake Shears, flamboyant frontman for neo-glam band Scissor Sisters, which played two sold-out shows at the 9:30 Club earlier this week, eating dinner Tuesday night at Buck’s Fishing & Camping in Northwest. Shears, wearing a tank top and baseball cap, dined on local soft-shell crabs with his mom and his niece, who had driven from Tennessee for the shows.
Expecting: Matthew McConaughey and his wife of less than a month, Camila Alves, Us Magazine reports. Alves tweeted the news on July 4th, with McConaughey following suit just 20 minutes later. The “Magic Mike” star, 42, and his model wife, 29, already have two children together, Vida, 2, and Levi,4.
