Politics merged with fashion Sunday, as Lauren Bush, the niece of former president George W. Bush, married David Lauren, son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, at a ranch in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, People reports. The couple met in 2004 and got engaged last year.

Bush, 27, and Lauren, 39, exchanged vows in a ceremony at Ralph Lauren’s 17,000-acre Double RL Ranch outside Telluride. The dress code? “Black tie with a Western twist,” said reports. A post-wedding rodeo was scheduled for Labor Day.

George W. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush, cousins Jenna and Barbara Bush and former Florida governor Jeb Bush were among 200 in attendance at the ceremony. Grandparents George H.W. and Barbara Bush did not attend because of health concerns related to the altitude, ABCNews.com reported, but they sent a video message. The bride’s divorced parents, Sharon and Neil, walked her down the aisle for a Jewish ceremony.

Lauren Bush told Harper’s Bazaar in April that she would not change her name to Lauren Lauren, deciding instead on Lauren Bush-Lauren. Bush-Lauren is a model, designer and philanthropist. David Lauren is an executive vice president at Polo Ralph Lauren.

Bruni-Sarkozy: No baby pictures, please

In a French television interview Sunday, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, due to give birth in the coming weeks and still unsure whether it’s a girl or a boy, said she will not allow photographs of the child to be published.

“I will do everything to protect this infant, and I’ll be absolutely rigorous,” France’s first lady, 43, said on the TF1 program “Sept a Huit” in her first interview about her pregnancy. “I will never show photos of this child. I will never expose this child.”

She said she now takes the same position on her first child, Aurelian, 11. “It’s difficult, difficult to hide,” she said with a laugh.

Kurt Angle jailed briefly in Front Royal

Kurt Angle was arrested on Interstate 66 early Sunday on charges of driving under the influence and jailed briefly in Front Royal, TMZ reports. Virginia state troopers responded after another driver spotted the professional wrestler’s car swerving between lanes. The wrestler posted $2,000 bond and was released at 3:31 a.m. Angle’s lawyer, however, told TMZ on Monday that Angle passed a Breathalyzer test and that “Kurt will be entering a plea of not guilty in response to any infractions and/or offenses.”

Angle won the gold medal in wrestling at the 1996 Olympics before joining WWE. He is under contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
