— ESPN’s Brent Musburger exclaiming over a shot of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s beauty-queen girlfriend Katherine Webb in the stands during the BCS Championship Game Monday night — comments that later prompted an apology from ESPN: “The commentary in this instance went too far.” The former Miss Alabama, who placed in the top 10 at Miss USA last spring, was unrattled by the fuss; she told TMZ she was not offended and had, in fact, gained 125,000 Twitter followers overnight. Lot of pressure to put on a new relationship, though: McCarron and Webb have only been dating a month, since meeting at the Miss Alabama pageant in early December.
