Free advice to pols: What to say about entitlement reform?

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has decided not to run for president in 2012, leaving the GOP field temporarily without a champion of entitlement reform. Critics of Ryan argue that it is too easy to demagogue entitlement reform and that GOP contenders should simply point the finger at President Obama’s failure to lead. What would you tell the GOP contenders to say (or not say) about entitlement reform — ignore it, talk in generalities or put forth a specific plan?

I’ll pick the best answer and post it Wednesday at noon. Have at it!
