David Jolly sure did a lot to unnerve the Democrats in his victory in the special election in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was on the money when it came to Ukraine aid. But it was Scott Brown on Friday who delivered one more blow to the Democrats, announcing his exploratory committee for the Senate race in New Hampshire:
Brown is a good campaigner, a social moderate (well suited for a libertarian state like New Hampshire) and a long-time opponent of Obamacare. Ironically, he was first elected in Massachusetts to “Ted Kennedy’s seat” as the man to deny the 60th seat to the Democrats; they strong-armed Obamacare through anyway. There would be a nice symmetry if voter anger over Obamacare helped return him to the Senate. He poses yet another challenge to the Democrats in what must seem like a political map that never stops expanding. Add another seat in play for the GOP.
For all that, we can say, well done, Scott Brown.
