Just when we thought the beaming newlyweds couldn’t get any more adorable, a photo of Prince William and Duchess Catherine strolling along the beach with a tiny black puppy emerges.

The new addition to the family, whose name has yet to be revealed, is a male cocker spaniel, a palace spokeswoman confirmed with Today.com Tuesday morning.

The pup came from a “family connection,” though there is no official word on why the new parents chose the breed.

Cocker spaniels are new to the royal family. It is rumored to be a favorite in the Middleton family, though first reports of the puppy mistakenly labeled it a Labrador, like Widgeon, the dog William had as a child.

Prince Charles and Camilla have a Jack Russell Terrier named Beth, while the Queen’s love for Corgis is well known.

The photo appeared a few days after Kate’s 30th birthday as the couple spent some quiet time in North Wales.
