If there were any doubts that the royal couple would be making an Olympic appearance, the palace and the Olympic committee have put them to rest. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince Harry, will be ambassadors for the London Olympics. In addition to waving red flags and posing for countless photographers, Kate, William and Harry will be “encouraging and inspiring the British public to rally behind the 900 Olympic and Paralympic athletes” on the British teams, the Associated Press reports.
The royal family has long been a part of the Olympic games. Queen Elizabeth II is a patron of the British Olympic Association, and Princess Anne is its president. Princess Anne also competed in the Montreal Olympics in 1976 as an equestrian, which her daughter, Zara Phillips, hopes to do in the upcoming games.
And if you want to join in the royal Olympic experience, don’t forget Buckingham Palace has a few rooms available for a measly $47,500 a night.
