Back in Texas, former Maryland Terrapins hero Graham Zusi strikes again in Sporting Kansas City’s victory

In the 2008 College Cup at Pizza Hut Park, the University of Maryland’s Graham Zusi scored the only goal in both the semifinal victory over St. John’s and the championship game against North Carolina.

Back in Frisco, Tex., on Sunday evening, Zusi scored twice, including a free kick from 45 yards, to lead Sporting Kansas City to a stunning 4-1 triumph over FC Dallas.

Before this match, the third-year pro had scored one goal in 42 regular season appearances, mostly as a reserve. Unfortunately for Zusi, the goal of the week — and perhaps the season — was locked up by Vancouver’s Eric Hassli a day earlier.
