D.C. United vs. Portland Timbers

Greetings from RFK Stadium. Or is it the Pacific Northwest? The fog and mist have me confused. Fear not, tonight’s match is on the banks of the mighty Anacostia, not near the Willamette or Columbia rivers.

What else is there to say about this one? Win or call it a season — another disappointing, playoff-free season.

Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET.

TV: Comcast SportsNet in D.C./Baltimore area, Direct Kick, MatchDayLive.

Attendance: Impossible to predict since this game was postponed from late August, it’s raining and mid-week matches are tough sells. That said, about 14,000 tickets are out there somewhere.

Lineup and subs to come about an hour before kickoff.

DCU: Hamid; Korb, White, McDonald, Woolard; Najar, Kitchen, De Rosario, Quaranta; Wolff, Davies.

Subs: Willis; Simms, Morsink, da Luz, King, Brettschneider, Ngwenya.

PORTLAND: Perkins; Palmer, Brunner, Futty, Wallace; Alexander, Jewsbury, Marcelin, Chara; Cooper, Alhassan. Subs: Gleeson, Chabala, Horst, Purdy, Umony, Perlaza, Dike.

White returns to the lineup. Kitchen replaces Simms in defensive midfield. De Rosario drops into central mifield. Davies joins Wolff up top. Burch left out of the 18 (Kitchen can play in the back, if necessary.)

Your pregame, in-game and postgame observations are welcome.
