Edson Buddle replaces Landon Donovan on U.S. national soccer team roster for Honduras, Ecuador friendlies

Striker Edson Buddle, a two-goal scorer in Germany over the weekend, has been added to the U.S. national soccer team roster in place of Landon Donovan, who withdrew because of a strained quadriceps.

The Americans are training in Miami ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Honduras at Sun Life Stadium (6 p.m. ET, Fox Soccer, Univision) and next Tuesday’s meeting with Ecuador at New Jersey’s Red Bull Arena (7 p.m., ESPN2, Univision).

In his most recent appearance, Buddle, 30, scored twice and added an assist in Ingolstadt’s 5-3 loss to Bochum. He has two goals in seven U.S. appearances.

As of Monday morning, only 6,800 tickets had been sold for the Honduras match. Sales for the second game are at 10,000, the U.S. Soccer Federation said.

The full U.S. roster is available here.
