Euro 2012: England, Italy meet in last quarterfinal

The Euro 2012 semifinals will be set Sunday, when Group D winner England and Group C runner-up Italy meet in the final quarterfinal.

England is seeking its first berth in the semifinals since 1996. Italy last made the semifinals in 2000, when it was runner-up to France.

The two soccer powers do not have much of a history on the international stage, last squaring off in an international tournament at the 1990 World Cup (a 2-1 Italy victory in the third-place game). The only other time the teams have met in a World Cup or European Championship was during Euro 1980 group play (a 1-0 Italy victory).
