Landon Donovan with 2 assists in Everton’s FA Cup victory over Fulham

In an English FA Cup match featuring three Americans in the starting lineup and another on the bench, Landon Donovan assisted on both of Everton’s goals in a 2-1 comeback victory over U.S. World Cup teammate Clint Dempsey and Fulham on Friday.

Donovan’s right-side cross set up Denis Stracqualursi’s headed equalizer in the 27th minute after Danny Murphy beat Tim Howard, Everton’s American goalkeeper, with a 14th-minute penalty kick.

In the 73rd, Donovan’s service from the same flank connected with Marouane Fellaini for an eight-yard header. Donovan is on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy until the MLS season approaches.

U.S. veteran Marcus Hahnemann was Howard’s back-up in the fourth-round match at Goodison Park in Liverpool.

In Germany, American right back Steve Cherundolo went the distance in Hanover’s 1-0 Bundesliga victory over Nurnberg. Compatriot Timothy Chandler was sidelined by injury after returning from a two-match suspension for Nurnberg.
