Manchester United star Chicharito Hernandez sidelined with concussion

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Manchester United’s Mexican sensation, suffered a concussion during a training session Tuesday and was hospitalized overnight, the English Premier League club announced.

Hernandez had just returned to the team from vacation and probably wasn’t going to play in Wednesday night’s match against the MLS all-stars at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. But the injury will end his hopes of appearing in this game and diminished the chances of him playing in Saturday’s friendly against FC Barcelona at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

“We have taken all the necessary precautions, which included an overnight stay in hospital,” the club said in a written statement. “The manager will give further updates in due course.”
