Portland Timbers Coach John Spencer shares his joy about goal during live TV interview

Early in the second half of the Portland Timbers’ match at FC Dallas on Saturday night, Coach John Spencer pulled on a TV headset for a live interview on Root Sports, the MLS club’s regional outlet. Seconds later, Darlington Nagbe scored the equalizer for the Timbers. You can question whether coaches should chat with commentators during a game. And usually, the coach is distracted by the match and has little to offer. In this case, though, the exchange inadvertently captured the unbridled emotion of the moment and opened another window into Spencer’s colorful personality. (Fortunately for the TV outlet, he wasn’t too colorful.) Watch and listen:
