U.S. national team news & notes

The U.S. national team has settled in Columbus ahead of Tuesday’s return qualifier against Jamaica. A few notes to share:

*Center back Clarence Goodson has received two yellow cards in this round and will serve a one-game suspension. Carlos Bocanegra (who didn’t play Friday), Maurice Edu (midfield Friday) and Michael Orozco Fiscal (didn’t play Friday) are the replacement options to partner with, presumably, Geoff Cameron.

*Goalkeeper Tim Howard did not practice with the full group today after suffering a leg contusion in a second half collision with Luton Shelton during the 2-1 loss in Kingston. My assumption is Howard will play Tuesday.

*As scheduled, Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando has replaced Chicago’s Sean Johnson as the third-choice keeper on the roster. Rimando was allowed to remain with his MLS club last week in order to play in a league match. Brad Guzan is second on the depth chart.

*Right back Steve Cherundolo, who missed the Kingston match with a calf injury, trained today.

*More than 3,000 spectators attended the U.S. team’s open workout at Columbus Crew Stadium this morning.

*Fan’s video of Shelton’s goal and crowd celebration Friday:
