Wednesday kickaround: D.C. United, MLS, CONCACAF, Bob Bradley, Maryland Terrapins, Virginia Cavaliers, Virginia Tech Hokies, TV listings

*D.C. United hasn’t won two league matches in a row since June 2009. This would be a good week to accomplish it. With games in hand and two dates at RFK Stadium this week, including tonight against fading Chivas USA (7:30 p.m., Comcast SportsNet/DC), United is in need of three-point performances to strengthen its playoff standing.

*The Capital Weather Gang offers the game-time forecast.

*Before looking ahead, Box Seats blogger Jeff Maurer looks back at United’s 3-0 loss at Seattle and shares his player ratings.

*After winning the first three CONCACAF Champions League matches, the Seattle Sounders stumbled at home against previously winless Herediano. Meantime, Danny Koevermans scored again as Toronto FC defeated Tauro.

*Former USA coach Bob Bradley has arrived in Cairo for final negotiations to become Egypt’s national team coach.

*Despite a 23-6 advantage in shots and 13-0 on corner kicks, top-ranked Maryland settled for a 0-0 draw at Seton Hall, the Terrapins’ first blemish after seven victories. On Saturday, they’ll visit Virginia Tech. The Hokies (3-4-0) are an unpredictable bunch, having beaten then-No. 1 North Carolina and taken once-beaten Boston College to overtime but lost to Howard.

*Will Bates scored four goals — one shy of the program record set 69 years ago — in the first 19 1/2 minutes and Virginia held off Radford, 4-3.
