The accolades keep pouring in for defensive lineman Joe Vellano, who on Wednesday was voted a second-team All-American by the Associated Press.
The junior leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in tackles by a defensive lineman. A first-team All-ACC selection, Vellano had 94 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks this season. He had a career-high 20 tackles against Georgia Tech on Oct. 8.
Teammate Andre Monroe was named a second-team freshman All-American by Phil Steele and Yahoo! Sports. Monroe played in just nine games because of injury, but he ranks second in the FBS in sacks among freshmen. He led the ACC in tackles for loss by a freshman.
